Day 1: Bucharest.
Arrival in Bucharest. Accommodation at 4 stars Golden Tulip Hotel (http://www.goldentulipbucharest.com/ ). If the time permits, we can have a city tour, visit the old town, Kretzulescu and Stavropoleos churches, marks of the „romanesc” architectural style , Lipscani area, Calea Victoriei with its impressive buildings and palaces, Seat of the Metropolitan Church and the second biggest building in the world, The Palace of Parliament. In the evening, dinner at Jaristea Restaurant (http://www.jaristea.ro/) in a very pleasant atmosphere.
Day 2: Bucharest – Focsani – Bacau – Piatra Neamt – Gura Humorului (450 km)
Breakfast than departure from Bucharest at 7 o’clock on the following route: Bucuresti – Buzau – Focsani – Bacau – Piatra Neamt – Falticeni – Gura Humorului. On our way we will have a stop in order to visit the historical city of Piatra Neamt, with its Princely Court dating from the 15th century and for lunch at a traditional Romanian restaurant (http://pensiunea-troian.ro/). One hour stroll between the walls of Neamt Citadel, one of the best preserved Moldavian citadels. It lies on the top of a hill with an amazing sightseeing of the surroundings. Overnight and dinner at Best Western Bucovina Hotel (****) in Gura Humorului (http://www.bestwesternbucovina.ro/index_en.html).
Day 3: Gura Humorului – Voronet – Humor – Campulung Moldovenesc (85 km)
Today we meet a fairy-tale land, Bucovina, which houses one of the most gorgeous architectural wonders of Romania and Europe as well: The painted monasteries. We will pay a visit to Voronet Monastery, with its famous „Day of Judgment” wall-painting and its unique shade of blue, and to Humor Monastery, whose outdoor frescoes have a glimpse of perfection. Lunch in Gura Humorului (http://en.lucy.ro/). After lunch we visit two ethnographic museums, representatively for this side of the country: „Wooden Art” Museum in Campulung Moldovenesc, that mirrors the native’s interest for centuries in this specific field and „Letitia Orsivschi” workshop of painted eggs in Vama traditional village, with more than two thousands exhibits. Spare time, overnight and dinner in Gura Humorului. Options: Evening stroll in Arinis Park.
Day 4: Gura Humorului – Moldovita – Sucevita – Arbore – Marginea – Cacica (130 km)
One-day tour throughout Bucovina. It will be an unforgettable journey through the most wonderful landscapes and traditions of Bucovina. We will visit Moldovita, Sucevita and Arbore monasteries, all of them included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Lunch in an unreal landscape in Sucevita (http://www.turistinfo.ro/sucevita/cazare-sucevita/pensiunea_montana/poze-pensiunea_montana-c26537.html ). Next stop: Marginea, a well-known village for its unique black-ceramic workshop. On our way back we will have a last halting place in Cacica, to visit the salt-mine and the Catholic Church. Leisure, overnight and dinner in Gura Humorului.
Day 5: Gura Humorului – Suceava – Bacau – Galati – Tulcea (440 km)
Our adventure in Bucovina cannot come to an end without visiting its most important city, Suceava, the ex-medieval capital of Moldova. We visit the citadel, the ruins of the Princely Court and „St. George” church, an exquisiting monument belonging to the moldavian religious architecture. Lunch in a famous local restaurant (http://www.hanu-ancutei.ro/). Departure for Tulcea, the gate of Danube Delta. There is enough time for a nap, we have 415 km to go. Spare time, overnight and dinner at Delta Hotel (****), Tulcea (http://www.hoteldelta.eu/).
Day 6: Tulcea – Lacul Nebunu (by boat)
Breakfast then we leave for the touristic harbour. One day trip with the boat through the tiny chanells of the Danube Delta. A madness of colours, birds, water lilies, virgin woods and from time to time the reflections of the sun brightening up some old fisherman’s boat will surely provide you one of the most memorable experiences you’ve ever had. Traditional fish-based lunch on the boat. Leisure, dinner and overnight in Tulcea. Options: visit the cliff, Museum of Danube Delta, Independence Monument or Azizie Mosque in Tulcea.
Day 7: Tulcea – Jurilovca (125 km) + Jurilovca – Gura Portitei (by boat)
Breakfast. It is time to visit a real wild place, Gura Portitei, the meeting point of the Danube Delta and the Black Sea. Departure with the bus for Jurilovca, then transfer to Gura Portitei by boat, passing through a very wild landscape. Bathe, leisure and lunch (http://www.guraportitei.ro/meniu.html ) Drive back to Tulcea with an one-hour stop at the Heracleea Citadel built by genovese in the 14th century and climb up on a rocky hill with a breath-taking view over the surrounding lakes. Overnight and dinner in Tulcea.
Day 8: Tulcea – Babadag – Harsova – Slobozia – Bucuresti (350 km)
Breakfast and departure for Bucharest with two interesting halts: first at Babadag, a city with strong oriental perfume. The second at Uspenia Monastery, a religious monument very important for the russian minority orthodox believers. Lunch near Babadag (http://www.pensiunideltadunarii.ro/cazare-pensiuni/Cazare-Pensiunea-Popasul-Doi-Iepurasi-157 ). Arrival in Bucharest at 7 - 8 o’clock in the evening.
